Catch and cook course. Get back to nature and learn how to catch and cook your own fish!

Catch and Cook (2 day course) £275 per person
Peaks Fly Fishing are working alongside the Tideswell School Of Cookery to deliver this fantastic course in the lovley Derbyshire Peak District.
Day 1 - Catch (9am-5pm)
Arrive at Tideswell School of Food and enjoy tea, coffee and muffins and pick up your packed lunch before hopping on a mini-bus and heading out to Ladybower reservoir for a full day of fly fishing under the expert guidance of Peaks Fly Fishing.
Amongst the breath taking scenery of Ladybower Reservoir you will learn the art of fly fishing for Trout with friendly, experienced coaches. You will learn how to assemble your tackle before moving on to casting and fly selection. During the afternoon session you will look at putting all you newly learnt skills into action and have a go at fishing under the watchful eye of our coaches who will always be on hand to help.
The fish in Ladybower are mainly Rainbow Trout and they are renowned for their eating qualities due to the deep fresh water that runs through the valley. If you do catch a fish you will be shown how to humanly dispatch it ready for taking back to the cookery school.
All tackle and equipment and fishing permits are provided as well as tea/coffee and biscuits.
At the end of the day you will be collected and taken back to Tideswell School of Food where you can drop off your 'catch' ready for the cookery session on Day 2.
Notes:
Complete beginners can be covered by coaches rod licences but those who have fished before will require an environment agency rod licence which can be purchased online or at any post office, the current cost for this is £3.75. You must bring and wear a hat and glasses for eye protection when learning casting.
Day 2 - Cook (10am-4pm)
Now you have learnt to fish, it’s time to learn to cook it! During this full day session you will be shown a range of skills and techniques that will have you cooking fish like a pro in no time.
Throughout the session you will:
- Be shown how to fillet and prepare whole fish.
- Be introduced to less familiar fish, helping you to contribute to sustainable fishing.
- Learn how to cook a variety of fish to get the perfect texture.
- Produce a fish dish from scratch which you can take home to enjoy with your family.
You will cook the fish that you caught on day 1 (if successful) along with other types of fish to create a range of delicious dishes including Trout En Papilote, Hot Smoked Mackerel and Tandoori Seabass.
You will enjoy one of the fish dishes for lunch, the rest we will package up for you to take home and share with friends and family.
