I have been outside in this milder weather doing a bit of casting practice on the grass. To make things a bit more interesting, instead of using the usual tag of feathers on the leader, I squeezed a small lead shot on the leader.

As a target I found an old pan lid (about the size of a plate). The great thing about this is you get a satisfying “clang” when the lead shot hits it’s target. You can place a few different lids around the grass and make yourself a little “shooting gallery”

Tip – to get the pan lids to make a louder sound when you hit them, raise them off the ground with a small piece of dowel in the middle pushed in to the grass.
