With the blizzard I can see out of my windows who knows what the start of the fly fishing season will hold! In this series I am going to run down some of the best trout flies for March. Fly fishing in March can be more akin to Winter than Spring but we always brave the weather and get out there!

Here’s my best trout flies for March and some of the most common hatches starting with the Large Dark Olive.

The Large Dark Olive will start to trickle off the river in March especially if we get a little decent weather. It’s an essential fly to have for March in both nymph and a dry fly.
