Led by AAPGAI Master Instructor Jim Fearn
A friendly, confidence-building introduction to salmon fishing
Getting started in salmon fishing can feel overwhelming. New tackle, new techniques, different water, and a casting style that can seem a world away from fly fishing for trout. Our Beginner Salmon Fishing School is designed to remove the confusion and give you a clear, enjoyable route into the sport.
The day is led by Jim Fearn, one of the UK’s most respected salmon and trout casting instructors. Jim works with Guide Fly Fishing, holds AAPGAI Masters qualifications in both trout and salmon, and has taught anglers for more than 20 years and fished across Northern England, Scotland, Russia, Norway and Montana. His philosophy is simple: progress comes through guidance, practice and patience.
You’ll also be supported throughout the day by Peaks Fly Fishing head guide David Johnson, who will be on hand to assist, help with setup and ensure everything runs smoothly.
Location – Warwick Hall, River Eden
The school takes place at the beautiful Warwick Hall beat on the River Eden, where we have exclusive use of the water for the entire day. It’s the ideal setting for relaxed learning, steady practice and a welcoming introduction to salmon fishing.
