The Derbyshire Wye is a pretty limestone stream in the Peak District. It forms on Axe Edge Moor near Buxton where is flows for around 15 miles before joining the River Derwent near Rowsley. The Derbyshire Wye is best known for it’s rare population of Wild Rainbow Trout which live happily alongside Wild Brown Trout and Grayling. Flies for the Derbyshire Wye are often centered around dry flies as the fish are free rising in the crystal clear waters. Some sections on the Wye are “dry fly only” whilst others allow the use of a nymph or wet fly, check the rules before you fish.
